HOW MUCH COULD MEXICO BY OWNER SAVE YOU?

List your Mexico real estate or rental for $1 a day. No commissions. No hidden Fees. No contracts.

IS MBO A REAL ESTATE AGENCY? 

 

No. Mexico by Owner is a listing service only with no affiliation to any agencies, realtors or brokers. So, we are able to represent all who are looking to sell or rent their property. 

WHY SHOULD I LIST MY PROPERTY ON MBO? 

 

Mexico does not have a Multiple Listing Service (MLS). This means realtors and brokers often share your listing with a small number of contacts but do not have a way to showcase your property to the world market. Often, after a few weeks, your property becomes an afterthought and is almost invisible to potential buyers or renters. 

IS IT REALLY JUST $1 A DAY TO LIST ON MBO? 

 

Absolutely. Owners who list on MBO are billed every 3 months based on $1US/day (plus applicable taxes). Imagine what that could save you in realtor commissions, broker fees, rental agency costs or online rental platform fees. 

 

We are homeowners and investors in Mexico just like you. And, when it comes time to sell, we know there are those out there who aim to take advantage of you and your biggest investment. We have experienced this ourselves and quickly realized there was a real need for a resource that gives owners more control over the sale or rental of their own property.

IS MBO REALLY FREE FOR POTENTIAL BUYERS OR RENTERS? 

Yes. Buyers and renters search for free, contact owners directly and pay MBO nothing, nada, zero, zilch. 

HOW DOES BILLING WORK? 

You will receive a recurring invoice every three months beginning the day your listing goes live on our website and you can cancel at any time. Payments are made quickly and easily with your credit card or PayPal via Stripe, which is one of the world's most popular and secure payment platforms. An option to pay future invoices automatically will be available for your convenience but is completely your choice. It is the responsibility of each owner to notify MBO if they would like to remove their listing.

WHAT DO I DO IF I HAVE AN INTERESTED BUYER? 

You are, of course, able to still work with a realtor to guide you through the selling process — perhaps even at a lower rate since you have found the buyer. You can also choose to use the buyer's realtor and save on commissions. Or, you can close the deal yourself by hiring your local notary or "notario". Notarios specialize in real estate transactions and the transfer of ownership for a fee rather than a commission.

CAN I STILL USE A REALTOR OR BROKER? 

Of course. MBO is a way to make your property more visible to the world market. Once you find your own buyer, you may be able to negotiate a lower commission or flat fee with your representative for them to help guide you through the process; or, you can handle the entire sale or rental on your own through your local notario.

 

Mexico by Owner is an affordable tool that gives you more control over the sale or rental of your biggest investment, all for just $1 a day. ​​Use MBO by itself or in conjunction with other online platforms and agents for maximum exposure.

 

ARE THERE CONTRACTS? CAN I CANCEL ANY TIME? 

MBO does not tie you down with contracts or exclusivity. You are free to sell or rent your property however and wherever you wish. You may cancel at any time by notifying us via email at hola@mexicobyowner.net and including your listing number. We will remove your listing as soon as possible and cancel any upcoming invoicing. Please note: billing is in three-month cycles and any days remaining on your quarterly cycle are non-refundable. It is the responsibility of the client to notify us if the property is sold or if the listing is no longer required. 

CAN I EDIT MY LISTING? 

Notify MBO of any changes to your listing (example: change in price) and we will make the edit as soon as possible. There is a $10US charge per occasion that will be invoiced separately from your quarterly listing fee.

CAN I SHARE MY LISTING? 

Of course. Each listing has its own URL. We encourage you to share your listing with as many people as possible. We will also share your new listing on our own social media channels. The entire purpose of MBO is to get your property noticed and found by potential buyers or renters. ​

CAN REALTORS AND BROKERS LIST ON MEXICO BY OWNER? 

Yes. MBO is open to everyone. Realtors and brokers can list properties on their clients' behalf  with their permission, of course. MBO is an excellent way to attract potential buyers or renters beyond the regular channels.

WHY ARE PRICES IN US DOLLARS? 

Clients can charge final prices in whichever currency is most convenient for them and their buyer or renter. But, for listing purposes, pricing in US dollars allows for ease of comparison across the site. Also, visitors to MBO live around the globe and USD is the most common standard used worldwide. ​

 

DOES MEXICO BY OWNER SELL MY INFORMATION TO THIRD PARTIES? 

No. ​Listing fees are the only way MBO is monetized.

HOW CAN MY PROPERTY BECOME A FEATURED LISTING? 

To become a featured listing, send a message along with your listing ID# or select "Featured Listing" when submitting your property details. Featured listings are an extra $20/month and appear prominently on our listings search page for increased exposure to potential buyers or renters.
